When it comes to intersections, the protections provided by stop signs and traffic lights may have little effect in the presence of negligence. Those who fail to adhere to traffic laws inherently increase the risk of a dangerous collision, and accidents that occur in intersections can have cataclysmic consequences. A recent car accident involving similar circumstances has left a woman in the hospital with serious injuries in Washington.

According to police, the collision occurred at around 2:15 p.m. on a recent Thursday. Initial investigations indicate that for reasons unknown, the driver of an eastbound vehicle failed to stop for a red light upon approaching an intersection. Police advised that this vehicle proceeded to cross into the path of and collide with a second vehicle that was making a left turn across the intersection.

Authorities advised that the driver of the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for medical care shortly thereafter. While there were two others involved in the crash, police stated that no one else was injured in the process. Police have also stated that an investigation is underway and that the driver who caused the crash was issued a citation for failure to yield.

Being involved in a car accident can be harrowing and those who suffer severe harm in a crash may experience a variety of hardships in life, physical and financial alike. If another party is at fault in the crash, a person in Washington could choose to retain the services of an attorney for guidance on the available options for legal recourse. An attorney can evaluate the incident and assist a client in pursuing the compensation entitled through a personal injury claim.
