Those who operate a vehicle at a high rate of speed are inherently less capable of reacting to a variety of driving scenarios. Similar acts of negligence increase the risk a major collision could take place and incidents that occur at high speeds can have catastrophic results. One person was killed and another suffered serious injuries in a recent car accident that took place under similar circumstances in Washington.

The collision reportedly occurred on a recent Friday morning as the driver of a motorcycle was traveling northbound at an excessive rate of speed. For reasons that remain unclear, this person suddenly shifted into oncoming lanes and struck a second vehicle head-on. The man was ejected from the bike in the process and although he was rushed to a hospital for treatment, he passed away shortly after arriving at the facility.

Authorities have also advised that the driver of the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for medical care. An investigation into the crash remains underway and police have stated that reckless driving appears to have been the primary cause. Accidents of this nature run the unfortunate risk of leaving those involved with serious injuries and facing a long road to recovery.

In addition to the physical challenges of suffering serious injuries in a major car accident, the financial hardships that may accompany such an event could also prove difficult to manage. If the other party is deemed at fault in the crash, the victim could benefit from consulting with an attorney for advice on the available options for legal recourse. An attorney can help a client in Washington better understand all his or her available options and assist in pursuing the full amount of restitution entitled through a personal injury claim.
