2 injured, 1 killed in recent car accident in Washington

| Jul 9, 2019 | Personal Injury |

While dealing with the fallout of a collision can be a stressful process, leaving the scene of a crash is never advisable. Such an act is not only unlawful, but it may also increase the chances that other injured parties may go without much-needed medical attention for extended periods. Two individuals suffered injuries and a 13-year-old girl was killed in a recent car accident in Washington.

According to reports, the accident took place at around 10 p.m. on a recent Sunday. Police advised that initial investigations indicate the crash occurred after the driver of an eastbound car crossed the median and continued to travel in westbound lanes. The car struck another vehicle shortly thereafter and the impact of the crash reportedly forced the car to erupt into flames.

Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders say they were able to put out the flames, but advised they were unable to rescue a child that was stuck inside the car. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and two occupants within the second vehicle were transported to a hospital for medical care. According to reports, witnesses informed police that the person who caused the crash and a passenger within the first car fled the scene on foot shortly thereafter.

Individuals who suffer serious harm or lose someone close in a car accident due to another party’s negligent actions may wish to exercise their rights to pursue accountability in civil court. Since the process can be complex, a person in Washington could benefit from retaining the services of an attorney early on for guidance on his or her available legal avenues. An attorney can assist a client in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a claim against the party deemed responsible.
