Head-on collisions can be devastating incidents that run the risk of ending with serious injuries for those involved, or worse. When a driver crosses into oncoming traffic and causes serious harm to another party, the victim could choose to seek restitution through a personal injury claim. A recent accident has left two individuals with injuries, and claimed the life of another in Washington.

According to reports, the incident took place on a recent Thursday when a vehicle entered the wrong lane of traffic on Interstate 5. Her vehicle proceeded to strike another, which was carrying two individuals. Both drivers were rushed to the hospital for treatment shortly after the incident, while a passenger in the second vehicle was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the incident is underway, but authorities don’t believe that intoxication was a factor. No information was provided as to what may have caused her to enter the wrong lane of traffic. However, authorities assert that she will be facing charges in relation to the collision, such as second-degree negligent driving. Those who encounter such a situation might have little to no time to react to avoid an accident, and they could be the ones who suffer the consequences.

Along with the grief of losing someone close in a fatal collision, surviving family members may also face financial hardships that can accompany end-of-life expenses. Those who experience such challenges could be entitled to restitution, but they may be uncertain where to turn for advice. By speaking with a personal injury attorney, an individual in Washington could obtain some much-needed guidance in pursuing the full amount of compensation deserved through a wrongful death claim against the party deemed at fault.
