5-car collision leads to 4-year-old girl’s severe personal injury

| May 6, 2017 | Personal Injury |

A great deal of accidents involving multiple vehicles are the result of one driver’s actions, which then sets off a chain reaction that can end in disaster. Individuals who suffer serious injuries in the process may subsequently pursue a personal injury claim against the party or parties deemed responsible. A multiple-vehicle collision involving several individuals in Washington injured two young children, one of which is listed in critical condition.

Emergency personnel recently responded to a call in relation to a five-car accident that took place just after 3 p.m. According to reports, a driver lost control of her vehicle and collided with the guardrails on both sides of a bridge. Four other vehicles were reportedly unable to avoid collision, one after another apparently colliding with the car in front of them in sequence.

A 4-year-old girl in one of the cars reportedly suffered head and brain injuries and is apparently in critical condition at a local hospital. Another young child in the same car was also injured in the process, but a trooper with the State Patrol advised that she is in stable condition. The driver of that car was apparently unable to avoid the vehicle in front as that driver attempted to maneuver past the initial collision.

Head and brain injuries can lead to long-term or permanent damages that can create various challenges in life. If the evidence suggests that one or more of the drivers to be responsible for the collision, the victim may be entitled to restitution for damages through the civil justice system. With the complex nature of the process, an accident victim in Washington could seek the counsel of an attorney for assistance in filing a personal injury claim against the party or parties deemed at fault.
