While attempting to check off their holiday shopping lists, many individuals may give little thought to their safety while within the walls of a store. Should a driver lose control and crash into the building, these walls might do little to protect those inside from harm. A recent car accident in which a vehicle crashed into a store in Washington has reportedly left 11 individuals with injuries, three of whom are in critical condition.
Law enforcement agents say they responded to reports of the crash on a recent Monday night. Initial investigations indicate that the incident began when a customer stole an item from the store and jumped in the passenger seat of a vehicle waiting outside. While attempting to flee the scene, the driver reportedly collided with another vehicle, subsequently causing him to lose control and crash through the front of the building.
Authorities say that as many as 11 individuals within the store suffered injuries in the crash. They have also advised that three customers were rushed to the hospital in critical condition, one of whom is a 2-year-old child. Police also state that the driver who caused the crash was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving and vehicular assault.
A car accident involving similar circumstances runs the unfortunate chance of leaving those involved with severe, or even life-altering injuries. Following such an incident, a person in Washington could choose to speak with an experienced attorney for guidance on all his or her available legal avenues. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in pursuing the full amount of compensation to which he or she is entitled to receive.
