Late-night car accident kills 2, leaves 1 with serious injuries

| Dec 6, 2018 | Personal Injury |

Operating a motor vehicle at excessive speeds can be dangerous, especially during periods of adverse weather conditions. Those who fail to adjust speed to match driving conditions could create a hazardous scenario that places the well-being of everyone involved at risk. A recent car accident involving similar circumstances in Washington has killed 2 individuals and left a 31-year-old man with serious injuries.

Law enforcement agents assert the incident took place at around 1 a.m. when a driver lost control of her vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic. Her vehicle collided head-on with a truck soon thereafter, and the initial impact forced the truck to crash into a nearby utility pole. Two passengers were reportedly ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the truck was rushed to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the accident and have advised that icy road conditions and excessive speeding appear to have been contributing factors. They have also advised that the driver who caused the crash was intoxicated at the time. Driving at a high rate of speed during inclement weather can be hazardous enough as is, and with the added presence of impairment, similar incidents run the unfortunate risk of ending in disaster.

Suffering major injuries or the loss of a family member in a car accident can be a difficult thing to accept. Should another party be responsible for causing the crash, the victims or surviving family members of the deceased could choose to speak with an attorney for guidance on their available options for legal recourse. An attorney can examine the incident and assist a client in Washington in pursuing the full amount of restitution entitled through a claim against the party deemed at fault.
