While every collision runs the risks of being dangerous, those that occur at high rates of speed may have a higher chance of ending in catastrophe. Those who are involved in accidents of this nature may suffer serious injuries in the process, and in some cases, such incidents could prove fatal. A recent car accident involving numerous vehicles in Washington has left as many as six individuals with injuries and claimed the lives of two others.

Law enforcement agents assert the accident took place just after 11:30 p.m. on a recent Monday when, for unknown reasons, a vehicle was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic. According to reports, the driver proceeded to side-swipe an oncoming car, which led to a chain reaction involving four vehicles in total. The driver who caused the crash and a passenger in his vehicle were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Several others who were involved in the collision were taken to a medical facility for treatment, some of whom reportedly suffered serious injuries in the process. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine what might have caused the driver to enter an oncoming lane. Although no information was provided as to whether impairment may have been a contributing factor, authorities have advised that toxicology samples were taken from the driver for testing purposes.

Along with the physical and emotional toll a car accident can bring, those who suffer serious injuries may also face significant financial hardships that can prompt a need for relief. Victims of similar incidents may wish to pursue restitution through the civil justice system, and they may choose to consult with an attorney for guidance in the process. An attorney can assist a client in Washington in pursuing the compensation entitled through a personal injury claim against the party deemed at fault.
