Associate Attorney
Matthew Van Gieson is an associate at Hanis Irvine
Prothero whose practice emphasizes Intellectual Property, Business,
Real Estate, L&I, and Litigation. He works with clients to make
their ideas realities in today’s local and global environments.
His defining characteristics are creativity and adaptability.
Matthew speaks Spanish fluently. His addition to Hanis Irvine
Prothero reinforces the firm’s concerted effort to reach out and provide
legal services to the Spanish-speaking population in the Puget Sound
area.
Prior to joining Hanis Irvine Prothero, he worked at Blado
Kiger, P.S. and Dickson Steinacker, LLP where he focused on Real Estate,
Business, and Litigation. He has represented clients in both
King and Pierce County courts.
In his free time, he enjoys basking
in the beauties of the Northwest, and in particular, hiking around
Mt. Rainer.

In law school Seattle University chose him to represent the school
in the 2004 ABA Negotiation Competition in Canada, and at the 2006
legal exchange with Universidad de Centroamerica in Nicaragua.
The Nicaraguan experience exposed Matthew to a country that operates
under the Civil Law regime, the world’s predominant system of law.
