Mike began his career as a litigator with a thirty attorney firm in Manhattan. In early 1991, he took a position with a general practice firm, working primarily in the areas of family law, personal injury and real estate. Mike moved to Seattle in 1995, where he joined a boutique family law practice.

Michael Ditchik opened his own firm in Tukwila in 2000, the Law Office of Michael Ditchik, focusing his practice on family law and related matters.  Mike ran a highly successful practice for five and a half years, during which time he developed a reputation for providing quality representation with an individualized, interpersonal approach.  Mike joined Hanis Irvine Prothero in July of 2005.  As the senior member of the firm's expanding family law department, Mike continues in his tradition of providing the highest quality representation.

Mike has handled countless family law cases, from simple child support modifications to complex paternity matters, custody trials, parenting plan modifications, and third party custody cases.  Mike has extensive experience in all phases of family law cases, and with over twenty years of experience, Mike dedicates himself to serving the needs of each client, individually and personally.  Read more about our Family Law services on our Family Law Page

More recently, Mike has entered the realm of collaborative family law, which is a newly emerging field in Washington. Collaborative law is a method of settling disputes in a respectful, rational manner.  It is based on a set of principles that significantly changes the dynamics between clients from adversarial to collaborative.  Read more about collaborative law at
