Patrick M. Hanis focuses his practice
in the Business, Real Property, and Construction fields, particularly
in the areas of real estate and business transactions including disputes;
liens; contracts; collections; condemnations; property development;
commercial leasing; public works; construction change order, differing
site, and delay claims; and related business and litigation matters.
He also handles probate matters and general litigation. He has significant
trial, mediation, and arbitration experience.
Patrick was appointed
to public office in February 2004, and elected in November 2005, as
a Commissioner for King County Water District #111, which serves the
areas of Meridian Valley and Lake Meridian in Kent, where he lives
with his wife Sarah and their four (with a fifth on the way) children.
Among other organizations, he serves on the Legislative Committee
for the Kent Chamber of Commerce, as President for the South King
County Bar Association, and on the Board of Trustees for the Meridian-Kent
Kiwanis organization.
During college Patrick built and restored
homes and businesses, and worked for a Water District during the summer
months. He took two years off from college to serve as a missionary
in New Jersey , where he learned Portuguese.
Patrick was appointed to public office in February 2004 . . . Among other organizations, he serves on the Legislative Committee for the Kent Chamber of Commerce, as President for the South King County Bar Association, and on the Board of Trustees for the Meridian-Kent Kiwanis organization.
During law school, Patrick clerked for the Washington
State Attorney General's Office. After graduating from law school,
Patrick was an Associate Attorney with the former law firm of Hanis
& Olson. In 2003, he became the first associate to join what has
become Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC, where he is now a Partner.
Patrick
enjoys devoting his free time to a variety of charitable causes, including
the Boy Scouts of America, South King County Legal Clinic, and the
Voters Information Committee.
