Immigration and Citizenship Law
Cynthia A. Irvine practices exclusively in the area
of immigration law and is the head of the Immigration Department at
Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC. Cynthia’s practice assists individuals
with family reunification and citizenship matters and supports the
business immigration needs of local, national, and international corporations
and non-profit organizations. Cynthia regularly defends the
rights of immigrants and their families and frequently handles complex
immigration cases in areas of deportation defense, waiver applications,
administrative and federal court appeals, and consular processing
matters.
Cynthia is also fluent in Spanish and speaks weekly on a
local Hispanic radio station regarding immigration issues. She
frequently speaks on immigration related topics at regional legal
conferences, seminars, and community meetings. Cynthia has published
numerous articles in local media sources and in legal publications
including the prestigious North Carolina Journal of International
Law and Commercial Regulation. Cynthia was selected as a “Rising
Star” in Immigration Law by Washington Law & Politics Magazine in
2004.
She is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Cynthia volunteers with the Northwest Immigration Rights Project and Volunteer Advocates for Immigrant Justice. In addition to being licensed to practice law in Washington State, she is also licensed in Virginia.

After graduating from law school Cynthia was selected by the U.S. Department of Justice Honor’s Program to be the Judicial Law Clerk for the Seattle Immigration Court. After her clerkship, she moved into private practice, focusing exclusively in immigration law for the past 12 years. Cynthia became a founding member of Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC in 2003.
In her free time, Cynthia enjoys participating in sports, including soccer and tennis. Cynthia also enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with her two young daughters and her cocker spaniel.
