Whether as a creditor or a debtor, Bankruptcy
is an area of law that affects almost everyone at some point in their
lives. The bankruptcy laws were established to help individuals,
married couples, and business owners to receive a new start after
a financial downfall, while still giving creditors the opportunity
to receive payment on some debts they may otherwise never be able
to collect.
In recent years, federal bankruptcy courts have noticed
a significant increase in the number of petitions that are filed.
This has led to drastic changes in the bankruptcy laws and to the
unavailability of certain types of bankruptcy protection. Where
once they could, many people are no longer able to navigate the murky
waters of the new bankruptcy laws on their own, and they must seek
the assistance of an attorney who is well-versed in the topic and
who has had training in the new laws.

The
Bankruptcy Department at Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC, can provide
such representation.
Through years of experience, seminars, and training,
Ray Gessel and Brian Hanis have developed the expertise to evaluate
the situation and determine how we can help. For debtors, we can help
in determine if bankruptcy really is the best option to help the client
become debt free and reach his or her ultimate financial goals. If
bankruptcy is the best choice, we can counsel the client on what types
of bankruptcy relief is available.
If bankruptcy is not the best option,
we can work with creditors to settle debts so that both parties can
benefit. For either option, our department can draft any necessary
letters, prepare all
required
documentation, and attend any necessary hearings or meetings.
On
behalf of creditors, Ray and Brian work with their debtors to develop
plans that can achieve successful payment of their debts while still
working within their financial means. We can even recover some debts
that were once thought to be uncollectible.
Regardless of which
side you are on, throughout the entire process we work to educate
our clients on ways to successfully avoid future financial hardships.
