Attempting to pass another vehicle on a two-lane road can be hazardous, especially at night or in areas where vision is obscured. Those who make a similar maneuver may leave others nearby scrambling to react to such a negligent decision, and the fallout of a subsequent collision could have disastrous consequences. A recent car accident involving such a maneuver has left two individuals with injuries and claimed the life of another in Washington.

Police responded to reports of the crash at around 11:20 p.m. on a recent Saturday. Initial investigations indicate the accident occurred when the driver of an eastbound car suddenly decided to shift into the opposite lane and pass another car. After attempting to re-enter eastbound lanes, the car clipped a nearby vehicle before spinning out of control and crashing into a third vehicle.

The driver who caused the crash was pronounced dead at the scene, while a passenger in this car suffered injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. A woman in the third vehicle also suffered serious injuries in the crash and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. While an investigation into the accident is underway, it remains unclear what might have caused the driver to attempt such a dangerous pass.

A major car accident has the unfortunate chance of leaving those involved with serious injuries and facing a need for long-term medical care. Those who suffer severe harm due to the actions of another party may wish to pursue restitution accordingly, and they could choose to retain the services of an attorney in Washington for guidance in navigating the process. This type of advice could help a person better prepare to pursue the full amount of compensation entitled through a personal injury claim.
