Melissa practices exclusively in the area of Family Law; including dissolutions of marriage, legal separations, meretricious/ cohabitation relationships, parenting plan and child support modifications, child support adjustments, paternity issues and relocations.

Prior to joining Hanis Irvine Prothero, Melissa worked as an associate at Wechsler Becker practicing Family Law with Doug Becker.

Melissa graduated from Willamette University College of Law in 2007. During law school she gained experience in family law volunteering at Eastside Legal Assistance Program a non-profit agency that provides access to justice through free or low cost civil legal aid to low income residents of East and Northeast King County. She worked in Willamette's clinical law program, honing her family law skills while providing pro bono services to the local community. Melissa also worked at Garrett Hemann Robertson practicing Family Law in Salem, Oregon while finishing law school.

Prior to law school Melissa attended the University of Washington, graduating with a degree in English with a focus in creative writing.

Melissa spends her free time with her family and friends and loves bicycling, running, hiking, kayaking, traveling and is an avid Husky fan.
