Associate Attorney
Alexandra "Ally" Cruz is an associate practicing immigration law at Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC.  Her practice encompasses all areas of immigration law, with a focus on complex removal defense litigation, administrative and federal court appeals, and family-based petitions.
Ally is fluent in Spanish and is very involved in the Latino community. She is the co-chair of the Immigration Committee of the Latino Bar Association of Washington (LBAW) and volunteers in LBAW's monthly legal clinic at El Centro de La Raza.  She also provides a legal clinic at the Lucy Lopez Community Center in Kent, Washington once a month. As a board member of Page Ahead, Ally has helped provide Spanish language children's books to children whose parents' primary language is Spanish in order to increase access to literacy in the home.  Ally also serves on the Latino Mentoring Advisory Council for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound, and received the Community Partner award in 2010.
Ally is a member of the Executive Committee of the Washington Chapter of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). In the past, she served as the Vice-Chair of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Subcommittee of AILA.
Ally graduated from Seattle University School of Law in 2008. During law school, she gained experience in immigration with several internships, including spending a semester as a judicial clerk for the Department of Justice’s Seattle Immigration Court.  Before joining Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC, Ally worked at a boutique immigration law firm focusing primarily on immigration removal defense litigation.
In her free time, Ally enjoys spending time with her two dogs, Tako and Garcilaso, as well as traveling, reading, and cooking.
Ally is a member of the Executive Committee of the Washington Chapter of American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). In the past, she served as the Vice-Chair of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Subcommittee of AILA.
